Red Nose Day (http://www.comicrelief.com/red-nose-day) 24th March is a chance to let our hair down, have a laugh and raise important funds for charity works across the UK and Africa. It’s also a chance to celebrate the great work of those charities, and reflect on all of the individuals who have received support in the last 32 years of Comic Relief.
But for us here at Broxtowe Women’s Project, most importantly it’s a chance to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who have donated, baked cakes, dressed up and danced for 24 hours! Without your support and generosity some of our work would not be possible. Comic Relief funds have helped us to support more women than ever, funding some of outreach work and awareness raising of domestic abuse.
Domestic abuse can affect anyone at any time in their life. Last year we supported 172 women, an increase of 23% from 2016, showing how crucial the services we provide are to the community. We’re here to help those in need and 97% of women we support feel more empowered. Our services include helplines, outreach work, training and confidence course all made possible by the £126,216 granted by comic Relief.
So once again on Red Nose Day 2017 – Thank you – the team at Broxtowe Women’s Project

Abusive fathers will use their children in a variety of different ways to perpetuate domestic abuse. Using children is highly effective as a way of exerting power and control over their intimate partners or former partners.
