International Women’s Day 2021

About International Women’s Day

IWD provides an important moment to showcase commitment to women’s equality, launch new initiatives and action, celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness, highlight gender parity gains and more.

The day is celebrated and supported globally by industry, governments, educational institutions, community groups, professional associations, women’s networks, charities and non-profit bodies, the media and more.

Collectively every person and all groups can make a difference within their sphere of influence by taking concrete action to help build a more gender equal world. From small powerful grassroots gatherings to large-scale conference and events – International Women’s Day is celebrated everywhere. It’s a big day for inspiration and change.

IWD 2021 campaign theme: #ChooseToChallenge

A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.

From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.

Raise your hand high to show you’re in and that you commit to choose to challenge.

BWP & Creative Expression

This mannequin was created by one of our women in support of International Women’s Day in 2020.

For many years men have been seen as the strongest sex. That they can do better than any woman. When in fact a woman is totally underestimated, even down to the fact that a woman is built to carry human life. Take Anne Frank for inspiration. Wow, women are so strong mentally and I think it’s time women, past and present, all over the world, are recognised for individual inspirational abilities. A male is stronger built but never underestimate the ability of a woman.

The Virtual Exhibition continues on the Don’t Judge Me page. It includes an eBook of all the poems and artwork created by BWP women and their families & three “In Conversations with” hosted by BWP, in which prominent guests discuss the work of BWP and the wider context of supporting women who are survivors of domestic abuse and violence.
